Art & Design

Intent

The curriculum for Art and Design at Hapton CE/ Methodist Primary school aims to ensure that all of our pupils:

  • produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
  • become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
  • evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
  • know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.

Implementation

At Hapton CE/Methodist Primary School creativity is key and we encourage our children to express themselves through their artwork during Art and Design lessons. By providing high quality Art and Design lessons, the children at Hapton are inspired and challenged with the knowledge and skills to invent, create and experiment with their art work and crafts. As our children move and progress through the school they also progress with their Art skills and can begin to think about their work critically and develop their understanding of Art and Design and particular artists further.
